Puppy Frequently Asked Questions

Adopting A Puppy

How do I adopt a Chevromist puppy?

Once you have chosen the breed that is right for you from our Puppies for sale page, head over to that breed's puppy for sale page and choose which puppy you would like to adopt. Click on the "Adopt this Puppy" button beside the puppy's photo and fill in the form. Once we receive the form we will contact you and start the adoption of your new puppy! We also have a short video that explains the process here.

Do you require a deposit to hold a puppy?

Once you have filled in the adoption form we will confirm that your chosen puppy is all yours and then we will send through our details for a $200 holding deposit. This is to ensure that puppies are only placed on hold when a new owner has confirmed which particular puppy they would like to adopt.

I'm not ready for a puppy yet but can you inform me about future litters?

Sure, we would love to. We have totally free and no obligation Notification lists for each breed. Once you sign up for the Notification list we will update you with each litter of each breed that you want to be notified about before they are advertised to avoid missing out on your perfect puppy. You can sign up to be notified about future litters here.

I'm not in Victoria, where can you send your puppies to?

We do fly our pups to new owners all over Australia thanks to our trusted transport partner KCR pet transport. We do have a list of common destinations on our site here. If your location in not on the list, just call or send us an email and we will chase everything up for you. For international enquiries, please call us to discuss as there are different rules for different countries

Is Chevromist a Registered Breeder?

We are a Fully Registered Domestic Animal Business with the City of Melton council as well as our Kennels being Approved by the Victorian Minister of Agriculture. While there are a few groups and organisations that allow dog breeders to register with them, Victorian Domestic Animal Businesses and Victorian Minister Approved Dog Breeders must comply with the highest breeding and welfare standards in Australia, if not the world. We are audited by both Melton Council Officers as well as Officers from the Victorian State Government on a regular basis to enable us to keep these certifications.

How can we contact you after we take our puppy home?

We are available on the phone on 03 87465685 during business hours Monday to Friday and between 10am and 2pm and via email at anytime.

Does Chevromist stay in touch with us after we have our puppy?

We sure do! We will sent you an email about once a month to remind you about the important things your puppy needs at that time such as wormings, vaccinations etc. We'll also update you on some of the physical and developmental changes your puppy is going through on their journey to becoming an adult.

Healthy Puppies

Do I get a 3 year Health Guarantee with my puppy?

Absolutely! ALL of our puppies come with a 3 year health guarantee. As a fully registered Domestic Animal Business we are required to provide Australia's (if not the worlds) most stringent health guarantee under the mandatory Code of Practice set out by the Victorian State Government.

Does my puppy come Vaccinated, Wormed and Microchipped?

YES, YES and YES! ALL of our puppies come microchipped. All puppies will be wormed (dewormed) and vaccinated up to date.

Why is my puppy given a C5 Vaccination rather than a cheaper C3 Vaccination??

A C3 Vaccination for dogs is a vaccination against canine Distemper, Hepatitis and Parvovirus. The more expensive C5 Vaccination includes the previously mentioned diseases as well as 2 forms of Kennel cough to give greater protection to your new puppy.

What is DNA health testing?

We utilize DNA parent health testing in our breeding program to remove heretible diseases from our puppies. By using DNA testing we can significantly reduce (and often eliminate) the chances of our puppies being affected by DNA testable diseases such as PRA, PKD and von Willebrand's Disease to name a few. This is absolutely essential in any professional dog breeding program and is a cornerstone of our health practices. Click here to find out more

Do I need Pet Insurance for my new puppy?

The short answer is YES! Just like a young child, a puppy can hurt themselves while exploring their new environment. This risk usually diminishes as they get older and they learn what will and won’t hurt them. Unfortunately, some of these accidents may require a trip to the vet with bills that can be expensive. All Chevromist puppies come with 30 days free Pet Insurance from Knose Pet Insurance. Click here to find out more

Puppy food and nutrition

What do I feed my new puppy?

A diet of Hypro puppy dry food and raw beef mince/Lyka prepared food is what we recommend for your new puppy. This will give them a diet to suit the demands of a growing puppy. All of our puppies come with a feeding guide making it really simple and easy to give your puppy a nutritious diet. Click here to find out more and to download our puppy feeding guide.
