What Does a Cavachon Look Like?
Cavachons have a very similar in appearance to the Cavoodle, however, they typically have a slightly broader muzzle and their body can be more "square". Cavachons have large expressive eyes with medium to long floppy ears giving them a "teddy bear" look. They are considered a small sized standing approximately 33cm to 40cm tall.
Cavachon Facts
A Cavachon is a cross between a Bichon Frise and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. They are a sweet faced, lovely natured small companion dog. Many Bichon Frise crosses are sought after for their low-shedding, low-dander coats and the Cavachon is one of the most popular examples. They are better known in the U.S.A however they are quickly becoming more popular in Australia as well.
To increase genetic diversity, our Cavachon puppies are often the result of breeding a Poochon (Toy Poodle x Bichon Frise) with a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The result is a small, compact dog with a very low to non shedding coat.

Cavachon Temperament
Cavachons have excellent temperaments. They are very similar in nature to the Cavoodle, however many owners believe that the Cavachon temperament is even more placid than that of the Cavoodle.
The Cavachon is affectionate, loving, and gentle. They are very family oriented. They do best with older, considerate children or with children they have been with from puppy hood. Cavachon’s will generally get along with dogs, cats, and other household pets. The Cavachon is non-aggressive but will alert their family to visitors and out of the ordinary sounds
Cavachon Health
Cavachons are generally healthy dogs. The average lifespan for a Cavachon is about 12 to 15 years but parentage is one factor that will influence longevity. Our Cavachons are DNA Health Tested for genetic health issues to reduce the risk of health issues in our Cavachons.
Cavachon Grooming
While Cavachons will need to be clipped every 6 to 12 weeks (depending on how long you prefer to keep the coat) they don't require a lot of brushing. A quick brush every day or two will usually keep the coat free from matting and knots.
Cavchons typically shed very little to no hair making them potentially good for allergy sufferers. When used as the parent breed, the Bichon Frise (like the Poodle) can produce offspring with low-shedding, low-dander coats.
Are Cavachons Hypoallergenic? Because Cavachons are crossed with a Bichon Frise they do make often make better dogs for people with allergies however allergies are not caused by a particular type of coat but by dander (dead skin cells) which all dogs drop (and humans for that matter) but Cavachons like other Poodle and Bichon Frise crosses shed less of.
Cavachon Exercise Requirements
Cavachons need only a moderate amount of exercise and will enjoy fetching games. They are playful and some love the water. They are well suited for apartment living. They enjoy family activities, securely leashed walks, and off-lead play time in a securely fenced yard.
