A Family Business.

Chevromist Kennels is a family business that is a registered Domestic Animal Business which undergoes regular audits and inspections by Animal Welfare of Victoria as well as the local authority.

We are extremely excited and proud to announce that our kennels are now approved by the Victorian Agricultural Minister. In order to receive approval from the Victorian Minister we had to undergo a very lengthy process including a 6 hour audit conducted by 4 Victorian Animal Welfare Officers who prepare a detailed report for the Chief Veterinary Officer of Victoria who makes a recommendation to the Minister for Agriculture before approval is finally granted by the Victorian Minister for Agriculture.

This process is necessary to ensure that Victorian Minister Approved Kennels are operating at the very highest of Animal Welfare standards and in time, we hope to see other states and territories around Australia follow Victoria’s example which will prevent “puppy farms” from relocating to states with weak animal welfare laws.

Chevromist’s breeding program has a clear focus on health and temperament to ensure our puppies are perfectly suited to families here in Australia and overseas.

Chevromist Kennels was established in the late 1980s where we originally bred purebred dogs for the show ring. Since then, Chevromist Kennels has evolved and is now breeding healthy, family friendly designer dogs including; Cavoodles, Spoodles, Groodles, Labradoodles, Moodles, Poochons, Beagliers, Maltaliers and Cavockers.

Our puppies are DNA Health cleared for over 30 different genetic diseases and are all sold with a 3 year Health Guarantee, are Vaccinated, Microchipped and all leave with an Information Booklet to help new owners get ready for the arrival of their puppy.

Hepburn Park (our kennel facility) has the highest standards for any kennel in Australia. Chevromist has built strong relationships with other top breeders sharing genetics, information on best breeding and rearing practices and partnerships finding homes for their puppies.

It Takes a Team

We are incredibly fortunate and grateful to have the most hard working team of well trained, passionate people to help care for our dogs and puppies. It’s a 24 hour, 7 day per week mission to make sure dogs are being walked, groomed, fed, cleaned and everything else in between! It never ends… but we love it!!

We DNA Test for 30 Genetic Diseaases

There are many different categories of breeders in Australia and it can be confusing to understand the differences. Unfortunately, just about any body can claim to be a “registered” breeder but this is often misleading. Victoria has the strongest laws in Australia regulating Victorian dog breeders.

We Understand Genetics

We believe that it’s absolutely vital that breeders are experienced and educated in animal genetics to ensure they have the expertise to carefully study and understand their dogs genetics. Michael from Chevromist Kennels is always our first point of contact before we plan a litter of puppies. Michael has been involved with breeding dogs for over 30 years. Along with that hands on experience, he completed his degree in Animal Science with a focus on Genetics, then went on to complete his Honours work in immunology through Melbourne University’s Dept of Medicine and the CSIRO Australian Animal Health Laboratory. We are extremely fortunate to have Michael as an integral part of our team.

Our Breeding Program uses DNA testing for 30+ genetic diseases. Michael Attard, with a degree in Animal Science (Genetics) and Honours in Immunology from Melbourne University and CSIRO, provides expert guidance.

3 Year Health Guarantee

We strive to minimise health risks, but cannot eliminate them entirely. Each puppy includes a 3-year health guarantee covering hereditary and congenital issues up to the purchase price.

Getting a new puppy is a big decision, and you may have questions as they grow. With over 30 years of dog breeding experience, we’re used to helping new owners and are always here to support you!

Australia-wide Delivery

Live outside Victoria? Our puppies often go interstate. We use experienced KCR Pet Transport for smooth, short flights. Check our delivery page or contact us for details.
